CANDACY - DIFFERENCES BETWEEN CHINA AND AUSTRALIA
I have been living in Australia for nearly 4 years and before that I lived in China for 25 years. Compare to China, there are lots of different things in Australia.
The most challenge for me is language. When the first time I came here, I found it was hard to understand when people were talking in English even I had learnt it for several years at school.
Australia is a diversity country, people from various countries join together, that makes different accent. I felt nervous and insecure especially when I got an interview in some formal places. My husband always accompany with me. Later, I found that you just need relax and take it easy because people here are very kind and willing to help you anytime.
Culture is the second different especially in education. In China, students sit on the same sit everyday at class and just listen to teachers, they don't normally give feedback in class. However in Australia, we can sit wherever you want and ask questions directly when you don't understand something. There are lots of free activities in local library and surroundings. Children love that so much and parents, normally mothers, can have a little chat and relax. In China, libraries are just for reading books and study, no play area and program.
Another different is transport and express. In China, if you buy thing on internet or express to someone, it just need 1-3days normally, however, it takes weeks for delivery in Australia. As the huge population in China that makes the big pressure on transport especially during the rush hours, you don't need to walk in to the train or bus because other people push you up and can't get down.
As I stay in Australia for those years I have learnt many living skills like, how to make bum and dumplings and other dishes, how to take care of garden and plants, fix many facility in house and sort of things. In China, you just need call the guy come to help you because it's cheap and convenient.
When I came here for visit at the first time the air was fresh and the good environment, people is nice and the differences between the two countries make me more curious to find out.
