I am from Kerala, one of the state in India. I lived in Kannur, it is a district of Kerala. There are 14 districts in Kerala. Kannur is the northern district of Kerala. It is a coastal city and it was once an ancient port. It is a city and a Municipal Corporation. It is the administrative headquarters of the Kannur District and situated 518 km north of state capital Thiruvanthapuram. During British rule in India, Kannur was known as cannanore, a name that is still in use by the Indian railways. Kannur is the largest city of North Malabar region.
As of 2011 census population of Kannur was 232,486.Kannur is most renowned for the Theyyam performances in its temples.This magnificent art forms plays an integral part in the culture of this Northern Kerala district..
